Dr. Tonnie J. Wulff, Network Spinal Analysis Practitioner: Here are my observations on the use of Body Balance and OsteOmegaCare in conjunction with Network Spinal Analysis.

I opened my Network Spinal Analysis practice January 2004. Initially, I attracted clients with basic complaints of headaches, low back pain, and various musculoskeletal aches and pains. My practice has been steadily growing and I am now starting to attract more complicated cases including two fibromyalgia clients. My initial treatment protocol with these clients included 3 Network Spinal Analysis entrainments (treatments) per week, for 8-12 weeks.

Under this treatment protocol alone, both of my fibromyalgia clients found improvements in their ability to adapt to weather changes, atmospheric pressure changes, and regular daily life stressors which include physical, chemical and mental/emotional stress. Around week #6 of care, I suggested we add Body Balance and OsteOmegaCare to their treatment regimens.

One of my clients received such an immediate boost of energy with the addition of Body Balance that we actually needed to reduce her serving and gradually increase her up to a standard serving. After several weeks of using both Body Balance and OsteOmegaCare, this client has felt better than she has in years. Her massage therapist that she’s been seeing for years called me to express how impressed she is with the positive changes she’s seen in this client.

My other fibromyalgia client also noted a marked increase in energy levels after a few weeks of utilizing Body Balance. With the addition of OsteOmegaCare, she no longer complains of knee and ankle joint pain. During a re-exam/consultation with this particular client, she shared with me that she had been noticing an increase in overall body aches and pains and a decrease in energy during the last couple of weeks. After my inquiring what had changed, she confessed that she had gotten out of the habit of taking her Body Balance and OsteOmegaCare. After re-introducing these products to her daily regimen, her aches and pains have subsided and her energy levels are improving.

Discontinuing the products was a great way for both her and me to note the difference they were actually making in her overall sense of health and wellness.

I have since attracted a few more Fibromyalgia clients into my practice and feel confident that the combination of Network Spinal Analysis, Body Balance, and OsteOmegaCare will assist these clients in experiencing the sense of health and wellness that they are looking for.

No…I’m not kidding. Life Force International has a product called Dream Away. Dream Away is a nutritional supplement as well as a weight management product. Its collagen-based formula supports the body in building lean muscle tissue.

Most people need a supplement like this and here’s why…

At any given time, over 50 million Americans are on a diet of some kind, and most are completely frustrated! The body stores fat because humans have always evolved under the constant threat of famine. So the body makes sure it has a reserve it can draw from. As a result of this, the human body responds to caloric restriction as if starvation were imminent.

After only a few weeks on a low calorie intake the body reduces its metabolic rate, and begins to consume muscle mass for fuel in an effort to conserve fat. Why? Because, given the choice, the body would rather store fat than burn it so that there is always a reserve.

The average person takes in over nine million calories in a ten-year period. That is equivalent to more than a ton and a half of fat! Diet and exercise certainly play a role in weight management, but only to a point. Beyond this is the hereditary factor.

Our genes play a major role in our body size. One person’s normal healthy weight range may be low, while another’s may be relatively high, depending on heredity. Most people don’t need to look like an advertisement for the fashion industry! And most people will NEVER look like that, and it is a stressful, fruitless exercise to even try. The important thing is to have a balance with good nutrition and exercise. When there is an inadequate intake of essential nutrients, fat cannot be properly burned and accumulates in the body.

This points up how important it is to use ALL the Life Force products, because each one is important for optimum use of the others.

A few more examples of this are… calcium and magnesium (OsteOmegaCare), which are needed for carbohydrate metabolism. Also, without adequate calcium, lipase cannot be activated. This is the enzyme that breaks down fat. Without trace minerals (Body Balance), insulin cannot utilize blood sugar. And so it goes on…

For those who carry around excess weight, the building of lean muscle tissue assists the body in burning sugars and fats more efficiently. For those who are trim, Dream Away supports the body by building strength and vitality. Dream Away can actually be supportive for ALL body types. It is a food supplement that enhances the body’s natural mechanism of regeneration and repair.

Regeneration and repair occur when we go to bed at night, during the first hour or so of sleep. Dream Away, when taken on an empty stomach with eight ounces of water, directly before going to sleep, fuels and feeds the regeneration process. Just like any protein that builds the body, Dream Away enhances the building process when used as directed.

Every person is different and every person will experience unique results. Some will notice immediate changes while others may have to wait up to three months. Others will lose weight steadily, then plateau for a while.

Dream Away helps support the process regardless of your body type. A small percentage of people may experience no weight reduction because of problems related to their personal chemistry (thyroid conditions). Nevertheless, these few will still benefit from the nutritional support.

One of my favorite Life Force International products is FlexeoPlus. There are many uses for this product, for instance, did you know that one of the underlying causes of psoriasis is a deficiency of sulfur in the body? MSM, one of the main
ingredients in FlexeoPlus, is the prime source of bio-available sulfur.

Sulfur originates in the ocean and reaches the human food chain through rainfall. As a nutrient, it is highly volatile….which means that it is destroyed by any kind of processing, cooking, storage, and even by simply washing fresh vegetables and fruits. Hence our deficiencies.

Sulfur is one of the most abundant minerals in a healthy body, along with sodium and calcium, and is present in every cell of every animal and plant. It is critical to the formation of connective tissue of all types, and it inhibits muscle spasm and increases blood flow. It is also needed by the body for proper enzyme activity
and hormone balance, as well as keeping the immune system functioning properly.

One of the most significant applications of organic sulfur is its ability to alleviate pain associated with systemic inflammatory disorders. But what else does it do?… MSM has anti-allergic properties better than most antihistamines that you can buy over the counter! Clinical studies show that it improves lung problems such as bronchitis, damage due to smoking, emphysema, pneumonia, etc.
Ipriflavone is another major part of FlexeoPlus. Ipriflavone has been shown to actually support the building of new bone in the body!! It does this by stimulating the cells in the body that build new bone, called osteoblast cells. At the same time, it inhibits the osteoclast cells, which are the ones that break down bone.

That is really exciting!!

The most rapid bone loss in women occurs in the first 5 years of menopause, so why not start before that and build us strong! Four years ago a gal I know underwent a bone transplant. A year later she had to go in for a check-up and have samples drilled from the core of the transplant to see how it was progressing. Much to the astonishment of the doctor, the transplant had become solid bone. He said he’d never seen that before, and he wouldn’t have thought it possible, especially in a woman close to 50. During nine months of that previous year Christa had been using FlexeoPlus (along with Osteoprocare and Body Balance) religiously three times a day.
One of the more fun things to look at with this product is using it cosmetically. It is wonderful to use topically on sore joints and inflamed areas of the body.Probably the most important job of MSM in the body is to keep cell walls permeable and the bond between the cells flexible.

Think of what this means to your skin! Wrinkling occurs when the cell walls clog up and the connecting bonds become brittle and inflexible. Added to that is glucosamine, which is a key ingredient in the formation of healthy skin and connective tissue. And Vitamin C and zinc are needed for collagen formation. What a combination!! One of the great things is that a tiny amount goes a long way…massage it in really well. MSM is used to manufacture keratin (protein that is the major component of hair). There are many ways to use this product!

The properties of silver have been known for centuries. In ancient civilizations, the wealthy stored water in silver vessels to keep bacteria from growing. Similarly, American settlers often put a silver dollar in milk containers to delay spoilage. It was not until the late 1800s that Western scientists were able to prove what had been known in Eastern medicine for thousands of years – that silver was a proven germ fighter.

Throughout the early 1900s Colloidal Silver rapidly gained recognition as one of the best infection-preventative agents, but unfortunately its use was short-lived. The high cost of silver combined with the fact that silver solutions could not be patented motivated the development of more profitable and more potent infection-fighting drugs. Today, silver is used by the Russians to sterilize recycled water aboard the space stations. NASA selected a silver water system for the space shuttle. Many of the world’s airlines use silver water filters to protect passengers from diseases such as dysentery. Silver has been effectively used to replace chlorine in swimming pools, and it doesn’t sting the eyes!

Science Digest, March 1978, published an article titled “Our Mightiest Germ Fighter.” In there it was reported “….Thanks to eye-opening research, silver is emerging as a wonder of modern medicine. An antibiotic kills perhaps a half dozen different disease organisms, but silver kills some 650. Resistant strains fail to develop. Moreover, silver is virtually non-toxic. Says a pioneering silver researcher, Dr. Harry Margraf of St. Louis: “Silver is the best all around germ-fighter we have…”

Extensive research into the curative properties of silver has been conducted for many years at the Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y. under the direction of Dr. Robert O. Becker, MD. The experiments conclude that silver works on a wide range of bacteria, without any known side-effects to the cells of the body. Silver has also been shown to do more than kill disease-causing organisms. Dr. Becker concluded that the presence of the silver ion may help to regenerate tissue, eliminate old or cancerous cells, and any other diseased or abnormal condition. The silver ion has caused major growth stimulation of injured
tissues. Dr. Richard L. Davies, executive director of the Utah Silver Institute, which monitors silver technology in 37 countries, reported: “In the last four years we have described 87 important new medical uses for silver. We are just beginning to see to what extent silver can relieve suffering and save lives.”

Many of the world’s leaders, their families and advisors use daily Colloidal Silver to prevent the otherwise certain eventuality of contracting infectious disease. Dr.Becker noted in his studies a correlation between low silver levels and illness. Those who had low silver levels in their bodies frequently were sick more often with colds, flu, fever and other illnesses. He said he believes a silver deficiency is the reason for the improper functioning of the immune system and that silver is critical for the destruction of bacteria and viruses. Under healthy circumstances, daily consumption of fruits and vegetables would yield an intake of approximately 50-100 mcg of silver as a trace element. What isn’t taken into account is that our food supply no longer contains those necessary minerals.

Because Colloidal Silver has been around for so long, there is a myriad of research and information available. Taking Colloidal Silver daily is like having a second immune system. It lessens the load on the body’s natural immune system and effectively kills the many unwanted bugs present throughout the body. In addition, it lessens the toxicity due to the average amount of germ, virus and fungus activity that occurs naturally in the body. However, tests prove that due to the high absorption of the small intestine, the friendly bacteria in the large intestine are not affected.

There are many, many uses for Colloidal Silver, as well as being a broad-spectrum
anti-microbial. These include skin problems, intestinal disorders, veterinary uses (you can use Colloidal Silver the same way with animals), purifying food and water. It is great for children as it looks, feels and tastes just like water. True Colloidal Silver is a clear colorless liquid, because the micro-clusters of the silver are simply too small for light to reflect back to the human eye. If you are using a colloidal silver that is colored in any way, it is advised that you discontinue use of the product.

At this point it is important to mention that there are generally five production techniques used in these silver preparations. Although there are microscopic particles of silver present in each of these preparation types, they do not produce the same wide range of germicidal antibiotic and other noted effects when used in the body or in laboratory testing. Some are actually noted for producing adverse reactions. For instance, it is “silver salts” such as silver nitrate that are
attributed to causing the bluing of the skin….not colloidal silver. There are also different grades of silver.

To be a highly effective, quality product, the silver has to be 100% pure. Cheaper
forms of silver contain different impurities that may also produce adverse reactions. “Parts per million” is a way of expressing how much silver is in the preparation. The healthy human body has 10 parts per million (ppm). Our Life Force Colloidal Silver is properly prepared electro-colloidal, containing 10 ppm of the highest quality silver.

Sunbright is a liquid, herbal phytonutrient supplement formulated with many highly valued ingredients containing many natural stimulants.
SunBright contains: plant extracts rich in the vitamin B complex (B1, B2, • B3, B5, B6, B12) green tea, an antioxidant that combats mental fatigue and supports the immune system, yerba mate, which stimulates cortisone production and tones the nervous system, ginkgo biloba, which improves brain function and enhances memory and an amino acid complex that plays a key role in supporting and elevating the mood.

Ever heard of HGH? Human Growth Hormone? Human Growth Hormone affects almost every cell in the body. It helps to regenerate skin, bones, heart, lungs,
liver and kidneys to their former healthy and youthful state. The immune system is revitalized. Heart attack and stroke risk factors are diminished. Emphysema patients have found their oxygen intake improved. Osteoporosis can be prevented. Wrinkled skin can be restored to a youthful vibrancy, sexual potency restored or increased, hair color restored…..and that is just part of what this important hormone does in the body. It is also responsible for the muscle to fat ratio in the body. It revs up the metabolism, reducing excess fat deposits, while at the same
time increasing lean muscle mass. It is a mood elevator and restores a youthful sense of wellness and zest for life.
Approximately 95% of HGH, or Human Growth Hormone (also called somatotrophin), is produced in the anterior of the pituitary gland. Production peaks at adolescence when accelerated growth occurs. It is one of the many endocrine hormones whose production declines with age. While many of these hormones can be replaced to deter some of the effects of aging, HGH reaches far beyond the scope of any of them. Not only does it slow down biological aging, but it acts to significantly reverse a broad range of signs and symptoms associated with the aging process.

In 1990, groundbreaking research by Dr. Daniel Rudman shook the medical world (published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine) with the announcement that 12 men, aged 61 to 81, had reversed up to the equivalent of 20 years of aging in six months with growth hormone injections. Until recently, growth hormone therapy has only been available in the form of injections of the actual hormone itself, that have been prohibitively expensive and difficult to use. There is also the possibility of known side effects.
More interesting are the HGH precursors or releasers known as secretagogues. These nutrients are designed to coax the pituitary gland to release its own growth hormone in a totally safe and natural way, at the level each individual body requires it. Scientists have found that as we grow older, we still produce HGH, but levels in the body drop because the pituitary gland does not release it. What has been found is that the more stressed the body is, the less HGH is secreted.
Secretagogues reverse this process naturally. According to researchers, these natural secretagogues may have the ability to more closely mimic the body’s youthful HGH secretion patterns than any other therapies previously available.
In a process called “stacking” (that is, packaging the right nutrients in the right proportions) we can derive optimal benefits – without using synthetics and needles. We are simply feeding the body the food it needs to function optimally. The amino acid stack releases insulin as well as growth hormone. Generally when HGH levels are rising….and this has been one of the adverse factors of injections….insulin levels are falling. However, if it is possible to raise insulin levels at the same time as growth hormone, it has a very high anabolic effect. And this is what we have seen.

According to research, you don’t need to increase growth hormone very much to get a significant rise in IGF-1 levels. (Insulin-like Growth Factor type 1 is at the other end of the growth hormone chain. It is the substance that actually produces most of the effects associated with HGH).
It has more recently been discovered that HGH is also made and released by the lymphocyte cells of the immune system……approximately 5%; hence Sunbright’s added herbal factors. In its sublingual liquid form, the delivery system addresses the gastric absorption problem.
(The reason HGH has traditionally been an injectable preparation is that the IGF-1 factor is largely broken down in the stomach by the bile acids). As the product works by assisting the body’s own ability to secrete HGH naturally, there are no reported complications or side effects.
It is recommended that Sunbright be used on a daily basis.

As well as having vitamins and minerals, food is a complex mix of thousands of phytochemicals. These are the factors that we need, along with enzymes, to fully utilize the vitamins and minerals. Studies consistently show that people who have a high intake of phytochemical-rich fruit and vegetables have lower levels of disease.

Life Force International manufactures a fantastic supplement called TRUEGREENS. TRUEGREENS is a “super botanical” that is a
phytochemical-rich powerhouse! TRUEGREENS is FULL of antioxidants. Antioxidants (in the fruits, vegetables and herbs) act as our body’s first line of defense against damage. They neutralize or scavenge (gobble up) substances called free radicals which would otherwise damage cells in our bodies, including our DNA. This, by the way, is one of the major causes of aging!
The grains and seeds in TRUEGREENS contribute trace elements, valuable amino acids and isoflavones. They are also a wonderful source of EFA’s (essential fatty acids). EFA’s are fats essential to the diet because the body can’t produce them. They are present in every healthy cell in the body and are critical for normal growth and functioning of the cells, muscles, nerves and organs. EFA’s are also used by the body to produce hormone-like substances called prostoglandins, which are the key to many of the body’s important processes.
TRUEGREENS is a WONDERFUL source of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is a natural deodorant for the body. It helps detoxify the liver and bloodstream and helps eliminate body odors. It also stimulates new tissue growth and the production of red blood cells. It strengthens all the body’s cells and acts as protection against
carcinogens. The greens in TRUEGREENS are powders made from both the whole leaf (providing valuable fiber), and from juices (extracted without heat to preserve enzymes and nutrients).

TRUEGREENS provides probiotics (friendly intestinal bacteria) and FOS (a super-food for the probiotics, that helps increase beneficial bacteria in the intestines). It also contains lecithin. Lecithin is a fat emulsifier, so it supports the circulatory system and helps absorb fats. It is also a potent antioxidant.
There is SO MUCH in TRUEGREENS we could literally fill an entire book with its benefits. I know that by eating TRUEGREENS every day (and I wouldn’t be without it!) I am getting the tools my body needs to do its job of regeneration. It is also great traveling food, and has sustained a number of friends during long flights
overseas, leaving them energized and alive.

Protein is essential to life. It is protein that provides the structure for all living things, whether it is a tiny microbe or a huge whale. We are all composed of protein. Next to water, protein makes up the greatest portion of our body weight. And protein plays a part in all of the vital processes that sustain life, including regulating the body’s water balance and pH, hormone and enzyme action, bone growth, organ function, glandular function, even the production of our DNA. Every new cell that the body builds needs a full compliment of amino acids to be healthy.

Proteins are made up of amino acids. Dietary protein has to be broken
down into amino acids before the body can use them for its needs. Herein lies a challenge that we face today….most people cannot break down protein adequately to be able to utilize the amino acids properly.
First of all, we need to chew the food really well, which most of us don’t, as the saliva begins the breakdown process. Next we need adequate hydrochloric acid in the stomach to continue the process. Again, most people, especially older people, are deficient in HCl. We also need adequate amounts of enzymes, of which most of us are also deficient. If the food isn’t broken down properly at this point, we
end up with toxic waste products that clog up the system, and a deficiency of amino acids with which to rebuild and repair the body.

The company I represent, Life Force International, has a top protein supplement called Amino Charge. Amino Charge is a form of protein that provides active bio-available amino acids to our bodies. It is easily assimilated, and is powered by a patented process that ensures we are receiving the full compliment of aminos in a way the body can fully utilize them. There are two categories of amino acids:
“essential” and “non-essential. Essential amino acids MUST be obtained through the diet, as the body cannot produce them. We also need the full spectrum of essential amino acids to be present SIMULTANEOUSLY in order for the other non-essential amino acids to be utilized. An inadequate supply of even one of the essential amino acids and the body cannot do its work. As different foods contain a different spectrum of amino acids, we cannot always be sure we are getting what we need. So a product like Amino Charge ensures that we get the full spectrum on a regular basis.
Amino acids also enable vitamins and minerals to perform their jobs properly. Even if vitamins and minerals are absorbed and assimilated by the body, they cannot be effective unless the necessary amino acids are present. If your diet fails to supply adequate amounts of the essential amino acids, sooner or later this will become apparent as some type of physical disorder. And many factors can contribute to deficiencies even if you eat a healthy diet. Things like infection, trauma, stress, age, and imbalances or deficiencies of other nutrients, as well as impaired absorption, can all affect the availability of amino acids.
I take Amino Charge every day. On a regular basis like this it also
regulates blood sugar. I have built 8 pounds of muscle mass since starting Amino Charge on a daily basis, and that is with a moderate exercise routine. I definitely feel more alive using this product.

Question: My doctor and nutritionist both say that too much Vitamin A is toxic. As there is a lot of Vitamin A in Body Balance, is it still OK to use?
Answer: Both the doctor and the nutritionist are correct in the assumption that too much Vitamin A is toxic to the liver.
However, the FORM of Vitamin A is what will make the difference…….and the Vitamin A in Body Balance is in the form of natural carotenoids. Vitamin A in pill or isolated form is very different to Vitamin A in this natural, food-based form. The carotenoids are a class of compounds that act as precursors to Vitamin A. When food or supplements containing carotenoids are consumed, the carotenoids are converted into Vitamin A by the liver, and the liver will ONLY convert the amount of Vitamin A that it can deal with at the time and that the body actually needs. No overdose can occur with carotenoids, unlike a Vitamin A isolate.

The closest thing to a “magic bullet” for maintaining youth and optimal health is a well-balanced combination of proper nutrition and eating habits and regular exercise. Health for me is the ability to lead a happy and creative life. Dis-ease is a limitation on that freedom. Here are some simple “golden rules” to follow to maximize your chances of a healthy and productive life.
1. Don’t overeat. Leave the table before you are feeling really full. It is better for the food to rot and be composted in the earth than to rot and be composted in your body.
2. Chew your food properly. 20-30 times is a good average. By chewing your food properly, you are allowing the proper breakdown of the food so that your body has the nutrients available to assimilate. It is also a really good discipline to prevent overeating.
3. Be relaxed when eating, as much as possible. If you are stressed or eating when you don’t really feel like it, you compromise your parasympathetic nervous system.
4. Eat whole foods and eliminate as much processed food as possible.
5. Whenever possible eat uncontaminated and organically grown food.
6. Eat simply. It is a treat to really get to taste the food itself and enjoy it.
7. Eat a varied diet with as many different fruits and vegetables as you can, as each one has a different set of phytonutrients in it.
8. Eat as much locally grown food as possible.
9. Eat a large percentage of your food raw, and remember to chew it well.
10. Don’t eat right before going to sleep. One of the things that happens right after we fall asleep is that the anterior pituitary gland produces human growth hormone that burns fat tissue, promotes lean muscle, and stimulates immune function. If you eat right before going to sleep, insulin is produced that blocks the growth hormone release.

11. Exercise on a regular basis…..even if it is just walking around the block each day. Regular exercise improves digestion and elimination, increases endurance and energy levels, and lowers overall blood cholesterol. It also reduces stress and anxiety which are contributing factors to many illnesses and conditions.

12. Take a high quality liquid vitamin/mineral supplement, preferably from organic whole food sources. Our land based food sources are severely depleted of essential vitamins, minerals and trace minerals. Without these minerals the body cannot utilize the vitamins you do take in.

Q. WHAT IS A MINERAL?

A. An inorganic element, such as calcium, iron, potassium, sodium, or zinc, that is
essential to the nutrition of humans, animals, and plants.

Q. What is the difference between inorganic vs. organic minerals?

A. Please understand these facts:

1. Minerals are inorganic, as they exist naturally in the soil and water.
2. Minerals are organic, as they exist in plants and animals.
3. Only plants can transform inorganic minerals into organic minerals.
4. Animals must eat plants or plant-eating animals to obtain their organic minerals.
5. Inorganic minerals are useless and injurious to the animal organism. (That’s us!)

How the Confusion Began:

Because inorganic minerals and organic minerals have the same chemical compositions, the early nutritionists confused them. The mineral, iron, in the bloodstream has the same chemical composition as the mineral, iron, in a nail—iron is iron, after all. However, these nutritionists incorrectly reasoned that there were no other differences between these two forms of iron. As a consequence, there actually were iron mineral supplements that consisted of surplus powdered nails.

Perhaps you have heard the expression, “mad enough to chew nails.” In this case, mad or unbalanced is certainly the correct word.

Chemically, it is true that iron in the bloodstream and iron in nails are the same and that calcium in rocks (known as dolomite) is identical to calcium in the bones.

However, it is a grave error to believe that the body can digest and assimilate and utilize powdered nails and crushed rocks.

This is why you must be very careful about any mineral supplement you take. Calcium supplements come mostly in pill form and largely consist of an inorganic form of Calcium.

Eating leafy green vegetables such as collard greens, spinach and broccoli are considered a good source of plant based Calcium but, due to the mineral deficiency of our farm soils the average person falls well short of getting enough Calcium through their diet.

Why are minerals important?

Minerals are the spark plugs of life because they are required to activate thousands of enzyme reactions within the body. In a way they are more important than vitamins since plants manufacture vitamins but minerals must be obtained from the soil. If the mineral is not in the soil, it cannot possibly be in the plant. Since our very existence is dependent upon the body’s ability to utilize minerals because minerals activate enzymes and enzymes control all the chemical reactions that take place in a living system, i.e. our bodies.

Health Problems From Lack Of Minerals

According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Americans typically lack a sufficient amount of the minerals calcium, magnesium, potassium and the vitamins A, C, D and E needed to maintain good health.

Mild calcium deficiencies can cause heart palpitations, insomnia, and irritabil-ity.

Without adequate minerals, research has shown that people de-velop chronic life threatening diseases like; diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, macular degeneration, bone loss, and dementia.

Key Minerals We Need Daily

List of Minerals Believed to be Essential to Humans and Their Roles in the Body:

Mineral Roles in the Body

Boron: promotes healthy bones, teeth; metabolism of other minerals

Calcium: blood clotting, intracellular signaling, muscle contraction

Chromium: insulin and glucose tolerance responses

Cobalt: contained in vitamin B12

Copper: formation of hemoglobin; absorption and use of iron; skin, hair pigmentation
Fluoride: prevents dental carries; crystalline structure of bones and teeth

Iodine: contained in hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).

Iron: contained in cytochromes , myoglobin, haemoglobin.

Magnesium: mineral present mainly in the bones; maintains electrical potential in nerve and muscle cells

Phosphorus: contained in bones, teeth; role in energy metabolism

Potassium: role in fluid and electrolyte balance; heart muscle activity; metabolism and protein synthesis

Selenium: proper heart function; possibly prevents certain cancers

Sodium: present in extracellular fluid

Sulphur: energy metabolism, enzyme function, and detoxification

Zinc: contained in enzymes, transcription factors

Through the process of photosynthesis, sea vegetables take in the inorganic minerals in the ocean and made them organic, thus they are the highest source of organic minerals on the planet.

Another way to get minerals absorbed by the body is to chelate an inorganic Calcium source like calcium carbonate into a highly absorbable organic form of Calcium. (see below)

“Chelated” minerals, those bonded with food acids, are known to be better absorbed in the human body as they are recognized as food substances.

Organic Calcium Forms:
-Calcium amino acid chelates has 65-80% absorption rates. They are fairly expensive and not as easily found.

-Calcium ascorbate gives you the benefit of Vitamin C as the other part of the molecule sans the acidity of the vitamin. It’s both expensive and hard to find.

-Calcium aspartate is the second best absorbed – 85% – of the commercially available types of calcium. Along with calcium orotate, it is the hardest to find.

-Calcium citrate is the most recommended by doctors, because it is the most easily absorbed. Unfortunately, it contains only about 21% of elemental calcium – you have to take more tablets to get enough calcium.

-Calcium gluconate and calcium lactate contain about 15% elemental calcium, similar to citrate in terms of absorbability and lack of side effects. But these cost more – as much as 3 to 10 more than the cost of calcium citrate

-Calcium orotate is the best absorbed of the commercially available types of calcium with 90-95% absorbent rate.

Bottom line: educate yourself about the supplements you take…don’t fall for the hype and slick marketing you see in the media today.

The two mineral supplements I take utilize both these processes. The sea vegetables in Body Balance use photosynthesis to metabolize inorganic minerals into an organic mineral form and OsteOmegaCare uses Orotic Acid as a chelating agent which forms Calcium Orotate, the highest absorbable form of Calcium available.
